I was just wondering if initiating a fetch would update the log without actually pulling stuff.

SmartGit has a "Log" that shows recent activity. SourceTree had something similar, but SourceTree's updated automatically, the only way I can find to update the Log in SmartGit is by initiating a pull, and I'm not sure I want to be pulling all the time.
