when i create a repository and clone it locally and then add my changes but push much later back to the repo, and somebody else clones that, will they see all my local steps or just 1 big commit?

when i try to make changes to a project, the proper procedure is to fork it, apply changes and then sent them a pull request, right?

from the point of view of a local repository "remote" is by default the repository that i cloned and that is by default "master" on github, is that correct so far?
