ive git init a director, git add -A, and git commit -m "comment". i now want to upload the files to a specific directory in my github account. how do i let github know exactly which directory to upload the files to (the directory already exists)?

hi, i somehow messed up my commit and i overwrote a project on github. i can see the timeline of my project in the browser but im not sure how to get back to showing the original project and getting rid of the change. can someone help me?
