the script name in the original repo is "PID_fan_control.pl". Should I rename the original script to "PID_fan_control.pl.old" and then use the original name for my new version?

hi folks. I've forked a github repo which mostly contains a Perl script to which I have made extensive changes. Is there some file-naming etiquette to indicate this in my fork?
