+ [2020-04-05T11:59:11Z] nedbat escherial: i think it would be ok. in a case like this, i would make a test repo and try it out
+ [2020-04-05T11:59:25Z] escherial nedbat: sounds reasonable, thanks
+ [2020-04-05T12:22:12Z] altendky i have a matrixed github actions job. i want some matrix entries (linux) to use a docker image. how can i conditionally specify a docker image for the whole job based on the matrix?
+ [2020-04-05T12:22:46Z] altendky escherial: i think if they merge the second pr that github realizes the first has been merged to and closes it. but sure, a test wouldn't hurt.

would it be a bad idea to make a branch off my initial PR, do the extra work there, then submit a PR for that other branch later on, once the first one gets merged?

+ [2020-04-06T14:56:22Z] nedbat relipse2: you should ask a lawyer. GitHub doesn't have an answer to that.

+ [2020-04-06T20:41:42Z] cornfeedhobo hello. i'm playing with the reference API, and I'm getting a 404 when POSTing and using a non-master SHA. anyone know what's up? my goal is to branch from a non-master branch which has a commit that is ahead of master
