I have joined a new project and in the repo there remains a ton of files that are useless... so I created a .gitignore file... but how does this file get used? I looked at this link: http://www.lemoda.net/git/rm-gitignore-files/ but I don't know where those commands should be executed. I'm on Windows and I have the github client installed with the repo already sync'd.
