Do I need to make it an 'annotated' tag?

I just did a new release using the web interface, and tags v0.35.2 (and tovid-0.35.2) but "git describe" in master still shows 0.35.0-55-g93b5ffc . Shouldn't it describe the # of commits since 0.35.2 ?

sonOfRa: this worked, I doubt its it right way to do it tho: EXTRACT_AFTER_ARGS= && ${MV} ${WRKDIR}/${PORTNAME}-${PORTNAME}-${PORTVERSION} ${WRKDIR}/${PORTNAME}-${PORTVERSION}

sonOfRa: tried all those in various combos, trouble is the file is program-version.tar.gz but extracts to program-program-version. So none of those are going to work I don't think.

seems I need to override "one or more of DISTVERSION, DISTNAME, EXTRACT_CMD, EXTRACT_BEFORE_ARGS, EXTRACT_AFTER_ARGS, EXTRACT_SUFX, or DISTFILES"

the naming seemed strange to me and I wondered why that happened

if I have a branch named myproject-0.35.1 , is there a way to download a tar.gz named myproject-0.35.1 rather than myproject-myproject-0.35.1 ?

as far as I have gathered so far, branches are an integral part of the work flow

sorry, out of my comfort zone for advising, I've mainly worked alone. Usually a team would use branches, not forks though, no ?

I don't think they can unless you invite them or give them access. They would have to fork and issue a pull request as i understand it
