You might want to consider simply loading it from the CDN in the actual layout. I find that ends up leading to quicker load times due to the fact it's most likely cached already.

I've been digging through the jekyll and jekyll-feed issues and docs, but I don't see why having my site.url set to "https://blog.jeaye.com" and my site.baseurl set to "" should cause any issues. Alas, my atom feed is producing urls like:
